New technique acquired

Stayed up late to accompany my sister who was preparing for her art exam the next day. While browsing her prep. work, saw that she toned a flower such that it looks like it was stamped on the paper, with fading effect at the edges.

I was so amazed by this technique, which I have no idea what it's called, that I pestered my sister for two days to teach me. In the end, i managed to come out with this using her prep work as inspiration.

We had a good laugh that night when she drew the same thing twice and didn't really get what I was trying to portray (this). Guess we were both too tired.

Simplicity is elegance, she remarked as I tried to express my views on Japanese flower arrangement and kimono. Only to find that, after QQ replied that the design looks like traditional chinese silk, Japanese kimono designs seem to be influenced by Tang Dynasty. Not sure if I am happy or sad since I like both of them... But just a little sad since I was heading towards the Jap feel~~

Happy Children's Day!!

Was troubled about how to duplicate copies of this and thank goodness there's facebook! :) so I just had to tag them... The response was so good, with even people which I didn't tag, liking it and I was so touched! It is like a sense of affirmation that maybe my kind of art can be accepted by certain group of audience...

Anyway! Really love the neon color pens... Hope manufacturers of such wonderful pen don't stop producing them. Along with glitter pens and multi-color lead pens! :D
